Teach the Teachers Workshop

Third Teach the Teachers Workshop: The third Teach the Teachers Workshop for 4th through 8th grade science educators (all educators welcome) was held on Saturday, February, 29, 2020 at Biocurious, 3108 Patrick Henry Dr., Santa Clara, CA. Registration was free of charge; sponsored by Silicon Valley ACS with generous support from Gilead Sciences, Inc., Foster City, CA. Below is promotional information for this event:

“You can probably look around the room where you are reading this issue of Celebrating Chemistry right now and see some shiny objects. It’s likely that these shiny objects are made from metals. What exactly is a metal? Did you know that 76% of the elements in the periodic table are metals? This year’s theme is “Marvelous Metals!” – and it focuses on the awesome things metals do. Please join us for classroom activities that explore this amazing topic!

Hands-on activities, a curriculum binder, and lab supplies for the classroom will be provided free of charge to each educator that participates in this educational, entertaining workshop. A continental breakfast and lunch will be included. No chemistry background required!”

Second Teach the Teachers Workshop: The second Teach the Teachers Workshop was held on Saturday, October 13, 2018, and followed the 2018 National Chemistry Week (NCW) theme, Chemistry is Out of this World.  The Workshop is designed for elementary and middle school educators, where several chemistry-related activities are demonstrated. Resources included a curriculum binder and all the materials needed to recreate the activities in the classroom will be provided free of charge to each educator that participates. This workshop was sponsored by Silicon Valley Section ACS with generous support from Gilead Sciences, Inc.  If you are a 4th through 8th grade educator, and are interested in attending a future Workshop, please email us at TeachTheTeachersACS@gmail.com.
