SUMMARY:Seeing Biology in a New Light: Nanosensors for Real-Time Biosensing
DESCRIPTION:Sponsored by ACS Webinars and ACS Publications\n8:00-9:00 am\, Online\, Free\, Registration required\n\n\n\nReal-time\, minimally invasive measurement of localized bioanalyte concentrations in living tissue remains a major challenge in biosensing and bioimaging. Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) offer a powerful way forward. Their exceptional photostability\, near-infrared (NIR) tissue-penetrating fluorescence\, and sensitivity to their local environment make them uniquely suited for advanced biomedical sensing and imaging. \nCelebrate National Nanotechnology Day with Daniel Roxbury of the University of Rhode Island as he explores how engineered SWCNTs can transform the way we detect and measure biomolecules in living systems. By functionalizing SWCNTs with biopolymers\, researchers can impart both biocompatibility and selective sensitivity to target biomolecules thereby creating powerful optical nanosensors for real-world biological applications. Using novel spectroscopy and microscopy techniques\, learn about recent advances in SWCNT-based optical nanosensors\, including machine learning-assisted analysis for applications ranging from live-cell imaging to wearable biosensing. \nThis ACS Webinar is moderated by Chengmei Zhong of ACS Publications and co-produced with ACS Publications. ACS has brought chemists together for 150 years\, creating communities that transcend generations\, borders\, and disciplines. Join the society as they recognize the power of collective impact\, foster belonging in chemistry\, and nurture our connections. \n\n\n\n\nWhat You Will Learn\n\nReal-time biosensing\nLearn how their unique optical properties can provide sensitive\, minimally invasive readouts of biomolecules in living systems\nThe behavior of engineered nanomaterials\nExplore how advanced spectroscopy can help you characterize nanosensor interactions and extract meaningful biological information\nNext-generation optical sensors\nDiscover how SWCNT-based technologies and machine learning are opening new possibilities for live-cell imaging\, wearable biosensing\, and real-time biological monitoring\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Details\n\nFriday\, October 9\, 2026 @ 11:00am-12:00pm ET\nFree to attend\nSlides will be available on day of the webinar\n\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Resources\n\nNanozymes: Design\, Mechanisms and Applications Special Issue – This joint special issue by ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces and ACS Applied Nano Materials presents a comprehensive collection of more than 50 cutting-edge papers by authors from 8 countries\, spanning rational design\, mechanistic insights\, and emerging applications of nanozymes.\n\n\n\n\n\nCo-Produced With\n\n\n\n\nACS Publications
